Brunswick attorney suspended from practicing law

AUGUSTA — The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has temporarily suspended a Brunswick attorney from practicing law, the Board of Overseers of the Bar announced today.

The order regarding Carolyn M. Asquith went into effect immediately. A final hearing in the case is scheduled for July 26, when the court will mull a more longterm decision.

Petitions submitted by the Board of Overseers of the Bar accuse  Asquith's of failing to submit a guardian ad litem report and itemized billing, not cooperating with opposing counsel in a family-law case, failing to comply with court orders related to those matters, not paying for title services and not responding to bar counsel about the complaints.

The Supreme Court's order issued Monday said the board had demonstrated good cause that Asquith should be suspended from practice.
