PORTLAND — More than 50 businesses are taking part in a new promotional campaign to give a boost to Maine's lobster industry.
The Maine Lobster Lovers Celebration campaign runs through November.
During the promotion, restaurants and retailers are offering lobster specials along with contests for free lobsters and other prizes.
The initiative is put on by the Maine Lobster Promotion Council, which is providing promotional materials to participating businesses.
The campaign comes at a time when Maine lobstermen are getting low prices for their catch because of an oversupply brought on by strong harvests in Maine and Canada.
