LEBANON – A Sanford woman smashed through the guardrail on Little River Road and overturned her SUV before it settled on the riverbank just feet from the icy water, police said on Tuesday.

This photo provided by the Lebanon Rescue Department's Facebook page shows an SUV that smashed through a guardrail Christmas morning and settled on a riverbank. The driver escaped injury.
The 34-year-old woman escaped injury and exited the car on her own. She had been wearing a seatbelt.
Lebanon Rescue Assistant Jason Cole told WCSH Channel 6 the woman had reported falling asleep while driving.
The Maine State Police are investigating the crash.
