WISCASSET — A Brunswick man is being held at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset tonight following his arrest earlier this week on charges he sexually assaulted a child under the age of 14.

Leslie Grant
Leslie R. Grant, who also goes by the name of Levi Grant, was arrested Monday at his home on Dunning Street. He has been charged with one count of gross sexual assault – a Class A crime.
Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel A. Merry said the 46-year-old Grant is alleged to have sexually abused children at a Bowdoinham home during 2000.
The family who owns the home met Grant and befriended him through their church.
Merry said the information about the alleged abuse was provided by the Sagadahoc County District Attorney’s Office in April. The Sheriff's Department investigated the charges and interviewed one of the alleged victims, which led to Grant’s arrest.
Grant is a registered sex offender. He was convicted of a similar incident in Lisbon in 2004, according to police.
Merry said he believes the abuse may have extended beyond Bowdoinham into other jurisdictions. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.
“We believe multiple families are involved but at this point we really don’t know how many victims are out there,” Merry said.
