OAKLAND — A Bangor couple who police interviewed in connection with a missing person case switched vehicles at a car dealership on Kennedy Memorial Drive earlier this week.
Police on Thursday impounded the vehicle the couple left behind after receiving a tip from the dealership.

Rod Pelkey, a manager at Lee Credit Now, said Daniel Porter, 24, and Cheyanne Nowak, 25, purchased a car sight-unseen from a Bangor office, then drove to Oakland on Tuesday to pick it up. While there, the couple asked Pelkey if they could leave their old car until they returned from a trip to Florida.
Pelkey said he read a newspaper story on Thursday about police seeking Porter and Nowalk in connection with the disappearance of firefighter Jerry Perdomo of Orange City, Fla., who was last seen Feb. 16. Police said they believed they were traveling in a white 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, the car the couple left at the dealership.
Oakland, Bangor and state police were dispatched to the scene, according to Oakland police logs. The car was later impounded.
Pelkey said Porter seemed “disheveled” during the Tuesday transaction, but Porter explained he was going through a family emergency.
Pelkey said Porter originally asked for directions to the nearest WalMart so he could leave the Mitsubishi in that lot, but he eventually settled on leaving the car at the car lot.
On Thursday police said they believed Porter and Nowalk may have had contact with Perdomo shortly before he disappeared.
Deputy Chief Peter Arno released a statement Friday saying the couple had been found and the investigation was continuing. No additional information was released.
Police say Perdomo had driven from Florida to Bangor where his rental car was found abandoned on Feb. 17 in a WalMart parking lot, authorities said.
He was last seen wearing a back zip-up hooded sweat shirt, shorts and black sneakers. He’s described as being Puerto Rican, 5-foot-11, about 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
