Dapolito murder trial focuses on drug dealing

ALFRED — The murder trial of Patrick Dapolito continued this morning with testimony about his involvement in drug dealing.

Dapolito, 41, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, 30-year-old Kelly Winslow, in their Limington home in 2010.

Dapolito initially told authorities that the gun in his hand accidentally fired while they were sleeping on the bathroom floor and he was high on cocaine. The defense now says that Dapolito, who had previously worked in the petroleum industry, had been selling drugs and that Winslow was a victim of a dispute between him and his suppliers.

Maine State Police Detective Mark Holmquist testified that a man who bought marijuana from Dapolito had mentioned the possibility that Winslow may have wanted to inform on Dapolito to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Holmquist also said that Winslow's brothers in California had been sending Dapolito marijuana through the mail for payment.
