BIDDEFORD — Donna J. Dion will be running as a write-in candidate for governor in the June 8 primary election.
Dion, a Democrat who lives in Biddeford, announced Sunday that she was unable to obtain 2,000 valid voter signatures by the March 15 deadline – the minimum number required in order for her name to appear on the primary ballot.
Dion said she has formally declared as a Democratic write-in candidate for governor.
“It was devastating (not to get on the ballot), but when you think about it we ran my campagin with $3,000 and no paid staff,” Dion said Sunday night.
