Woman hit by car in Bangor dies

Police do not expect the driver to be charged.

BANGOR — Bangor police say a woman hit by a car while walking has died.

Bangor police Lt. Tim Reid said today the name of the woman will not be released until her family has been notified.

Police say the woman was injured early Saturday when she was struck by a car while walking near the highway overpass on Union Street.

Reid tells the Bangor Daily News that he doesn't anticipate filing charges against the driver of the car that hit the woman. The driver's name has not been released.

The investigation is continuing.
