Flags to fly at half-staff for soldier's funeral

AUGUSTA  — Flags will fly at half-staff in Maine during the funeral of Spc. Wade Slack, the soldier from Waterville who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.


Slack died May 6. His funeral service is planned for Sunday at Blessed Hope Church, in Waterville.


Gov. John Baldacci has ordered that U.S. and Maine flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday in honor of Slack. He was with the U.S. Army's 707th Ordnance Battalion from Fort Lewis, Washington.
