Hannah Prince, a 2010 graduate of Gorham High, was one of 18 field hockey players named Friday to Team USA for next month’s Junior World Cup.

Prince, who will be a senior at the University of Massachusetts in the fall, was chosen from a group of 36 players who participated in a three-day camp that ended Friday in Virginia Beach, Va.

Prince was one of only four players who started all 24 games for Massachusetts last fall. Primarily a defender, she scored winning goals against New Hampshire and Ohio State.

Held every four years, the Junior World Cup is the top international event for elite field hockey athletes under the age of 21.

It will be held July 21 through Aug. 4 in Moechengladbach, Germany.

The U.S. qualified for the event by finishing third at the 2012 Pan American junior championships in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The U.S. finished eighth at the last Junior World Cup, which was held at Harvard University in 2009.
