High wind watch issued for Maine, NH

PORTLAND — Utility crews are dealing with power outages caused by high winds in Maine.

Forecasters have called for strong and possibly damaging winds across Maine and New Hampshire beginning Wednesday evening and into Thursday.

The National Weather Service has forecast sustained winds of 40 mph or stronger, and gusts upward of 60 to 65 mph along coastal areas of eastern Maine.

Bangor Hydro crews were working Wednesday evening to restore power to about 1,500 customers, mostly in the Corinth area.
