The husband of a Tennessee woman last seen hiking on the Appalachian Trail in Franklin County in July is offering a $15,000 reward for information on her whereabouts.

Geraldine “Gerry” Largay, 66, was last seen wearing a reddish pullover shirt, tan shorts, a blue hat, and a black and green backpack.

Largay is an experienced hiker who was prepared with supplies. She had no previous incidents during her hike leading up to her disappearance.

Her husband, George, is offering the reward, according to a news release Tuesday from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

The Maine Warden Service was notified of Geraldine Largay’s disappearance July 24 and started searches and investigation that day. The search continued to grow, and employed tracking dogs, ground search teams, helicopter, aircraft, all-terrain vehicles and horses.

On several days, more than 100 searchers sought clues to Largay’s location. Since the search was scaled back after Aug. 4, local search groups, tracking dogs and game wardens have conducted six more ground searches for Largay.

No clues, such as clothing, hiker accessories or backpacking equipment, that belonged to Largay have been located.

The warden service and the Largay family seek any information related to Largay and her route on the trail, especially information related to her whereabouts from Sunday, July 21, to Tuesday July 23.

Information will remain confidential. Those with any information are asked to call Maine Warden Service dispatch center at 207-624-7076 or leave information on the website http://www.maine.gov/ifw/aboutus/auto_forms/contact_us.htm.
