FALMOUTH — Traffic was backed up for more than a mile as Maine Department of Transportation road crews worked on Interstate 295 southbound in Falmouth.

Traffic was restricted to one lane during the evening commute for a stretch south of Exit 10 and traffic had backed up to Exit 11 by 6:15 p.m.

There were no crashes at that point, though rescue workers were summoned for a man who had two sick children in his car, authorities said.
