SOUTH PORTLAND – No one was injured, but icy roads caused a traffic mess on a northbound exit ramp of Interstate 295 in South Portland on Monday night.
South Portland Police Sgt. John Sutton said a motorist, whose car slid off the Exit 1 ramp, had abandoned his vehicle to seek help.
A tractor-trailer truck then slid into the car. Sutton said a second tractor-trailer got stuck on the exit ramp but he is not sure if it collided with the stranded car or the truck that hit the car.
Sutton said Maine State Police were notified and are investigating whether there were any commercial vehicle violations. The crash took place around 7:30 p.m.
