Kennebunk football tops Marshwood in clash of unbeatens

KENNEBUNK – Kennebunk withstood a late Marshwood charge to win a battle of unbeaten Class B West football teams Friday night, 21-14 at Veterans Memorial Field.

The Rams (4-0) took an 18-0 lead into halftime and led 21-6 early in the fourth quarter. Jake Lary kicked two field goals and Kennebunk’s defense earned a safety.

The first of two Kennebunk lost fumbles allowed the Hawks (3-1) to drive 56 yards for the touchdown that cut the margin to 21-14 with 7:09 left.

Marshwood had two more possessions but failed to get a first down.

Nicco DeLorenzo scored on a 1-yard run and Larson Coppinger on a 6-yard pass reception for Kennebunk.
