BRUNSWICK — L.L. Bean Chairman Leon A. Gorman is being be awarded The Bowdoin Prize, the highest honor bestowed on a member of the Bowdoin community.

Gorman is a member of the Bowdoin College Class of 1956 and trustee emeritus of the College. He’ll receive the award at a special ceremony Friday in Brunswick.

The award is handed out only once every five years.

School officials say Gorman was chosen to receive the prize for his achievements as a business leader, conservationist and philanthropist.
