WELLS — A man is being treated for burns and smoke inhalation at Maine Medical Center in Portland following a house fire at 1422 Post Rd. Friday night.
Wells Deputy Fire Chief Shannon Bridges said the unidentified man was the only occupant at the one-and-a-half story Cape Cod-style home when the fire broke out at about 11:20 p.m.
Bridges did not know whether the man's injuries were life threatening.
It took 45 firefighters about an hour to contain the fire, which was difficult to control because of the large amount of materials stored inside the building that fed the flames.
The fire destroyed the building. The cause of the fire, which started in the kitchen area, is under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshall's office.
