OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Maine Gov. Paul LePage and U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud addressed veterans and their families Saturday to honor prisoners of war and servicemen missing in action.

The Republican governor opened the ceremony in Old Orchard Beach and read a proclamation he signed declaring it POW/MIA Recognition. He was followed by remarks from the Democratic congressman.

The event was hosted by the Maine Heroes Fund organization and raises money for veterans in need.

Michaud recently announced that he will be run for governor against LePage in next year’s election.
