LEWISTON — Maine drug enforcement officials say they’ve arrested a Lewiston man in connection with illegal distribution of heroin.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Cmdr. Scott Pelletier said 40-year-old Macarthur Taylor was arrested Thursday at his Lewiston apartment.

Pelletier said police have been investigating illegal heroin distribution between Lewiston and the Bath area for the last year. He said agents conducted undercover heroin purchases from Taylor, including several in designated drug-free zones near schools.

Pelletier said the investigation led agents to search Taylor’s apartment, where they seized items indicating drug trafficking.

Taylor was taken to Androscoggin County Jail, where MDEA said heroin was found on him. It could not be determined if he had a lawyer.

MDEA said it anticipates more arrests.
