Woman suffers fatal injuries in collision with shuttle bus
A 62-year-old Camden woman died after her car was struck by a shuttle bus Saturday, police said.
Police said the car driven by Jayashree Kalmath was struck by a private charter bus about 6:20 p.m. when she failed to yield while turning from a side street onto Route 1.
Authorities told WABI-TV that it took more than two hours to get her out of her car using the Jaws of Life, and that she died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Driver escapes injury after crashing vehicle into train
A car crashed into a train in Maine on Monday for the second time in less than a week.
Police said the car hit a passenger excursion train Monday at a railroad crossing, but the driver was unhurt.
Witnesses said the train was sounding its horn at the time of the crash, but the driver told police she didn’t see the train, WABI-TV reported.
Sgt. Shawn Willey said nobody on the train was hurt, but the car was totaled.
Last Thursday, a dump truck driver was injured when he drove his truck into a train in Hampden.
