The Maine People’s Alliance released a statement today saying they are not circulating a petition to remove Gov.-elect Paul LePage from office.

The group wanted to set the record straight following a Monday opinion piece by LePage Communications Director Dan Demeritt. While defending LePage’s decision to hire his daughter Lauren, Demeritt wrote that groups such as the state employees union and the people’s alliance are already circling the wagons to oppose the governor-elect.

“The state employees union is telling its members they are in for the fight of their lives, and word on the street is that the Maine People’s Alliance is already circulating a petition to remove Paul LePage from office,” he wrote.

The MPA says while it is  going door to door to talk to Mainers about LePage’s “plans to eliminate regulations on polluters” it is not trying to recall the governor.
