BANGOR — The only casino now operating in Maine has a new name.

Hollywood Slots in Bangor is officially changing its name today to Hollywood Casino Bangor, now that it will offer poker, blackjack and other table games.

Casino officials are also unveiling a new logo at a press conference this morning, according to the Bangor Daily News.

“Our official opening date is March 16,” said John Osborne, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino Bangor. “We’ve hired about 60 of the 89 people we need and have only a handful of positions left to fill.”

On March 16, the casino will offer poker, blackjack and other table gambling games in addition to slot machines.

Of those 60, Osborne said 48 are dealers, the Daily News said. The other 12 are supervisors, also called pit bosses.

In order to accommodate a likely increase in business, the casino will expand operating hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights to 3 a.m. starting March 1. The casino still will open at 8 a.m. every day.

Hollywood Slots has been operating in Bangor since November 2005.
