Maine gets grant to address obesity issues
AUGUSTA — Maine is receiving nearly $4.3 million in federal grant money to address obesity issues in the state.

Gov. John Baldacci says the funds from the Communities Putting Prevention to Work grant will support efforts to address obesity, nutrition and physical activity to help promote healthy lifestyles and cut down on chronic disease.

The governor says Maine has the highest rate of obesity in New England, with an estimated 30 percent of Maine youth being overweight or obese.
