BARING — A grandmother has died in a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 in the eastern Maine community of Baring, while her 8-year-old grandson suffered minor injuries.
State police say a pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Lynn Roderick of Princeton was heading north at about 2:20 p.m. Sunday when it attempted to pass another vehicle, and struck a southbound car head-on.
Police tell the Bangor Daily News that Roderick was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her grandson was treated for minor injuries at Calais Regional Hospital and released.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash, 47-year-old Steven Scott of Calais, was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
