CLINTON — A hammer-wielding former employee of the Super 95 One Stop robbed the store Saturday night, police said.

Jeremy Holt, 23, of Clinton, was arrested Saturday at around 7:50 p.m. and is in custody at the Kennebec County Jail, according to a news release from the Clinton Police Department.

A clerk at the store, which is located on Hinckley Road, reported the incident to police, who tracked down Holt in his 2001 blue Ford Focus on Johnson Flat Road near the Pittsfield town line, according to the release.

He was taken into custody and is charged with armed robbery.

The robbery is the second involving a hammer in the area in the last three days. Police in Somerset County are looking for a man who robbed a branch of Camden National Bank in Bingham while wielding a hammer on Friday.

Karl Roy, an officer with the Clinton Police Department, said he could not comment on whether the two robberies may be related.

The investigation into the robbery is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Rusty Bell at the Clinton Police Department at 426-9192.
