Pittsfield police Chief Steve Emery said the employee told the would-be robber that "you are not leaving here with any drugs."
The suspect, a man in his 30's wearing a bandana over his his head and oversized sunglasses, according to Emery, gave an employee a note demanding drugs about 10:48 this morning. The man said he had a gun, but didn't show it in the store, according to Emery.
Pittsfield police began a search for the suspect a short time later in the area surrounding the Somerset Avenue store near Interstate 95. Searchers include Somerset County Sheriff's deputies and Maine State Police with a tracking dog.
The same store was robbed of drugs in May and October.
