Maine Warden Service swears in 6 new officers

One Penobscot tribal warden was also sworn in.

VASSALBORO — The Maine Warden Service has welcomed six new officers to its ranks.

The new wardens graduated and took the oath of office Tuesday at the law enforcement agency's Advanced Academy in Vassalboro.

In addition, one Penobscot Tribal Warden was also sworn in.

Their training included 18 weeks of police basic training and then 12 more weeks of specialized training in skills including recreational vehicles, crash investigations, and search and rescue.

Founded in 1880, the Warden Service is the oldest state law enforcement agency in Maine and is responsible for enforcing conservation laws.

The new wardens are Kim Bates, Cliff Littlefield, Paul Mason, Sarah Miller, Seth Powers, and Troy Thibodeau. The new Penobscot Warden is Troy Francis.
