WASHINGTON — U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says Maine will be getting financial relief under the federal stimulus act to offset the cost of Medicare prescription drug coverage for state residents eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.
She estimates the relief in Maine will total nearly $28 million. The financial break is retroactive to October 2008 and extends for the rest of this year.
Sebelius says the funding will help Maine and other states continue to provide health services without breaking their budgets.
The federal stimulus law allows significant but temporary increases in the amount states receive to help pay for their Medicaid programs.

Is this really what the Stimulus Plan is all about? Funding bloated budgets so states can continue to do business without accountability? The state calls us when we don't pay our taxes how about the Hospitals start calling each legislator when the State doesn't pay for its idiotic healthcare initiatives..!?

A New York Times/CBS Poll just last week found that just 6% of Americans think the economic stimulus blll created any jobs -- despite overwhelming evidence that it has -- while 48% think it will not create jobs and 41% say it has not created jobs yet but will........ eventually. http://politicalwire.com/archives/2010/02/17/just_6_think_stimulus_created_any_jobs.html#ixzz0g0ynKSgj Only 6%.... helloooooo.

how is this producing job as it is only paying overdue bills. The roads and bridges need repair. This is what will produce jobs to fix roads but lose jobs from repairing our beatup cars.
