Maine woman injured when tree falls on her

Radio transmissions from LifeFlight personnel to the hospital indicated the patient was a 75-year-old woman who suffered a head injury.

CHINA — A local woman was flown to a hospital Wednesday after a tree fell on her.

The mid-morning accident happened at property at 274 Lakeview Drive, according to emergency dispatchers in Waterville.

Dispatchers confirmed a LifeFlight helicopter had been called to take the woman to a hospital. Radio transmissions from LifeFlight personnel to the hospital indicated the patient was a 75-year-old woman who suffered a head injury when struck by a tree. The woman reportedly lost consciousness, but subsequently had regained consciousness.

The report also indicated she suffered an ankle injury.

South China Fire Chief Richard Morse would not confirm the time of the incident or the address at which it occurred. Morse would not say what gender the injured person was, age or any specifics about how the tree fell.

Neither Maine State Police, Game Wardens nor the Kennebec County Sheriff's Office were called to the scene.
