The Associated Press

FREEDOM, N.H. — State police in New Hampshire have arrested a Maine man and are looking for two other people in connection with a Christmas Eve shooting in the town of Freedom, near the Maine border.

Troopers responding to a call shortly after 8 p.m. Monday say they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

A 38-year-old man who was at the scene during the shooting has been arrested. Joseph Wright, of Parsonsfield, Maine, faces resisting arrest and other charges.

Troopers are still trying to identify another man and a woman who they believe were there during the shooting.

State Police say a Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputy responding to the scene was hurt when his gun accidently went off. He was treated and is expected to make a full recovery.
