WATERVILLE — A pedestrian was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after being hit by a car on Upper Main Street, according to police.
The accident was reported at around 12:30 p.m. near the driveway to the Comfort Inn.
Jessica Brickett, 29, of Rome, said she was driving out of McDonald’s, which is next to the Comfort Inn, when she saw a light green SUV hit the man and drive away. She said the driver was a male.
The injured man was bleeding from his legs and appeared to have tire tracks on his lower legs, she said. Brickett stopped to help the man, brought him into her car, offered him water and called 911.
Brickett said the man complained about head pain.
“I feel so bad. I think it’s unbelievable that someone would just take off,” she said. She said the driver of the vehicle was wearing a red striped shirt.
Police confirmed a man was hit and taken to the hospital, but further information was not immediately available.
