SANFORD — A male subject, who reportedly went berserk inside the Sanford Walmart on Wednesday afternoon, had to be restrained and taken to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
Corporal Matthew Gagne of the Sanford Police Department said officers were called to the Walmart on Main Street to investigate reports of a man breaking television sets. Gagne said the man "was out of control."
When police arrived, they found a male subject being restrained by several private citizens.
Gagne said Sanford police took the man to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford for an evaluation. Gagne did not know if the man will face criminal charges.
No other details were immediately available.
