Portland man urinates during sobriety test

From staff reports

Remus Opi failed his field sobriety test with finality.

Police were called to 165 Cumberland Ave. at 6:15 p.m. Sunday by a witness who saw a car crash into a fire hydrant on nearby Locust Street. The car then backed up onto Cumberland Avenue.

When police arrived they found the car with two flat tires and yellow paint on the dented bumper. The lone occupant, 54-year-old Opi, spoke limited English, police said.

Opi, who appeared drunk, was ordered out of the car and submitted to a field sobriety test.

In the midst of the test, Opi undid the zipper of his pants, exposed himself and urinated next to the front passenger tire of the officer's cruiser.

Police charged him with driving drunk and indecent conduct.

He is being held in Cumberland County Jail on $60 bail.
