PORTLAND — The Munjoy Hill Mothers Club is running out of time to buy Christmas presents for more than 120 needy children.
Linda York, whose late mother, Marie Trott, established the club 38 years ago said Portland police are still investigating the theft of a donation jar from a local convenience store.
Police said the jar contained an undetermined amount of money that would have been used to purchase presents for the club’s annual Christmas party, which is scheduled to be held on Dec. 15 at Portland’s Root Cellar.
After the Nov. 30 theft of the jar was reported by local media, York said she received a number of donations but still not enough money – the club has raised about $350 – to meet its $1,000 goal.
For more information or to make a donation, contact York at 518-3169.
