GREENLAND, N.H. — A felon who was barred from possession of weapons was arrested in New Hampshire for allegedly being in possession of a loaded machine gun.
The Portsmouth Herald said Joshua Nieves of Greenland was arrested late Thursday night after a massive police hunt that began in Greenland and ended in Portsmouth.
Nieves, whose age was not given, was arrested without incident.
Police say Nieves was convicted in Hillsborough County of armed robbery in 2004 and was in violation of a protective order at the time of his arrest.
Police say there were children in the area where Nieves was reported being seen with the loaded machine gun, which can fire 20 to 30 rounds rapidly with a single trigger pull.
Nieves is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
