CONCORD, N.H. — A New Hampshire man will serve more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.

A federal judge Tuesday sentenced 40-year-old David Barker of Rochester to 78 months in prison.

Barker was indicted in May 2011. Investigators say they found on his computer more than 50,000 images and 1,000 videos depicting sexually graphic and violent acts involving children.

Child pornography investigators in Canada and Georgia detected images of child pornography being shared by a Rochester computer user in 2010.

Federal prosecutors had asked for a sentence of more than eight years, while Barker’s lawyers sought a five-year sentence.

Barker was working as a computer technician prior to his arrest.
