DURHAM, N.H. — A New Hampshire fisherman has been charged with possessing 49 stolen lobster traps.

The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says 21-year-old Kyle Basoukas of Bedford was arrested on Nov. 11 after a three-month investigation.

Fish and Game conservation officers say they seized 81 lobster traps. They say 49 of them were determined to be stolen, including some that had been owned by a lobsterman who died in an accident in the Piscataqua River in July.

Basoukas is facing charges of receiving stolen property, molesting lobster gear, taking lobsters without lobster trap tags, and 130 other lobster violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 13.

Basoukas could not be reached for comment. A phone listing in his name could not be found.
