NAPLES — The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a fire Monday night at 3 Escott Way in Naples, the second fire reported at that home in two weeks.

On Jan. 20, firefighters were able to prevent a fire that started in a second-floor bedroom from spreading to the rest of the house. That fire was caused by a malfunctioning electric blanket.

“It’s odd and it certainly raises some questions,” Naples Fire Chief Chris Pond said of Monday night’s fire at the same home.

No one was at home during Monday’s fire, which started around 8:30 p.m. Pond said that by the time firefighters arrived, the home, which was engulfed in flames, had collapsed into its basement.
