KITTERY— Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a teenager in the Maine town of Kittery.

Police say a 15-year-old girl was walking near the intersection of Shapleigh Road and Manson Avenue Friday afternoon when a man driving a van asked her if she needed a ride. She said no several times but the driver then told her to get in.

The girl then ran a short distance to her home.

WMTW-TV reports she told someone at the Traip Academy and the school reported it to police.

Police say the man was driving a white van with rust around the fender. He is described as between 30 and 35 years old, with short dirty blond or light brown hair. He was wearing sunglasses and a navy blue crew neck shirt.
