PORTLAND — Portland police are at the scene of a stabbing, which sent one man to the hospital with an unspecified injury Thursday night.
Lt. Robert Ridge said the victim, who is 37 years old, is believed to have been stabbed by another man around 7 p.m. Ridge said investigators are familiar with the suspect.
Police were searching for the 21-year-old, who is described as being a white male, 5-feet-7 inches tall, and weighing about 140 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt.
Ridge said the stabbing took place at Front Street on West Presumpscot Street. Front Street is a housing project operated by the Portland Housing Authority.
The victim, whose name is not being released by police, is being treated at Maine Medical Center.
