Portland warns of possibly fraudulent recreation website

The website,, which is not connected to the city, asks for personal information, including credit card numbers.

PORTLAND — The city's police and recreation departments are warning residents that a possibly fraudulent website is offering registration services for some Portland recreation activities and classes. is believed to be posting city programs and offering registration through its site, soliciting personal information, including credit card numbers, and charging a $2 processing fee for each transaction. The website claims the registration information is passed along to the city, but no information is given to the city, which has no business relationship or agreements with the site.
