According to police, the cars were broken into early Friday morning. At 5:20 a.m., they said, someone attempted to use a credit card that had been taken from one of the cars in an ATM at the east end of Commercial Street in Portland.

The ATM camera produced grainy photos. They show someone who appears to be young, with a thin build and wearing a dark Champion sweat shirt with a white T-shirt undernearth, dark sunglasses and a baseball cap. He was also wearing Easton batting gloves.

South Portland police ask anyone with information to call 207-874-8575.
