WATERVILLE — Police are searching for a woman who allegedly walked out of Hannaford’s with an estimated $200 worth of groceries.

Grocery store staff told police the woman walked out of the store with the grocery cart around 4:15 p.m. Monday, according to Sgt. Brian Gardiner of the Waterville Police Department.

He said workers tried to stop her but she refused and drove away.

“She fled the scene,” he said.

Gardiner said employees reported the woman’s license plate number and described her to police. Police believe the shoplifter was a woman from the China area.
