PORTLAND – Police are investigating two separate incidents of shots being fired overnight in the city.
No one was hurt or arrested in either of the shootings, which occurred on Fox Street near Kennedy Park on the peninsula and in Riverton Park on Portland's northern edge.
Lt. Jim Sweatt said both shooting incidents occurred after midnight. He said there was physical evidence that supported shots being fired in Riverton and the Fox Street incident was backed up by witness statements.
Sweatt declined to discuss the physical evidence or say whether police believe handguns or rifles were involved in the shooting incidents. Police do not think the incidents are related, he said.
