SOUTH PORTLAND — South Portland police are investigating an armed robbery of a bank that took place Monday night.

Sgt. Steve Webster said the robber, who is identified as a white male with a thin build, entered the TD Bank branch at 9 Market St. at 5:28 p.m. and pointed a handgun at a teller.

The suspect, who was wearing a mask, demanded money and was given “a small amount” of U.S. currency before he fled.

He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, black baseball hat, jeans and white sneakers. The mask covered half his face. Police said the man was wearing black gloves.
