KENNEBUNK – St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church will close at the end of the month because of decreases in members and money.
At the request of the congregation, the Presbytery of Northern New England agreed to dissolve the church effective Nov. 30. The last worship service will be at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25.
The Rev. Mark Wendorf, St. Andrew's minister, said the church "simply does not have enough money or members to keep going." The church was started 20 years ago.
"We have struggled financially for years and our membership has been dwindling for years," he said. "It has now reached a point where we can no longer go on."
The church on Portland Road is owned by the Presbytery of Northern New England, which will hire a real estate agent before deciding what to do with the building, according to Wendorf.
