Joseph Jenkins, 34, of Standish was sentenced to three years in prison for being a felon in possession of a gun.

Jenkins, who is also known as Joseph Cruz, Joseph White and Christopher Bunch, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge D. Brock Hornby in Portland on Friday.

Jenkins was stopped in his minivan last March by a Maine State Police trooper. He was arrested because he was unable to produce a valid driver's license or identifying information that couldl be confirmed.

The trooper found a loaded 9 mm pistol behind the passenger seat. Jenkins was banned from possessing a gun because of a 2006 felony kidnapping conviction.

Jenkins faces three years of supervised release after his prison sentence.
