PORTSMOUTH — Demolition of all of the old concrete piers that made up a bridge connecting New Hampshire and Maine is now complete.
Archer Western, the main contractor, says steel for the new Memorial Bridge will start arriving in Portsmouth in September.
Drilled foundations and concrete work are being worked on.
The firm continues monitoring vibration noise levels in Portsmouth and Kittery. They have remained at satisfactory levels.
The new bridge is expected to be completed by July 2013. The old Memorial Bridge connected the two communities for nearly 90 years.
