YORK -- Celebrity actress Sally Struthers, scheduled to appear in York District Court for the first time Thursday to face a drunken driving charge, did not attend in person and left it to her lawyer to deliver her lines.
Attorney John Webb filed an appearance on Struthers' behalf by mail, waived a reading of the charge and entered a plea of not guilty for her.
Struthers, 65, of Los Angeles, is a frequent performer at the Ogunquit Playhouse and was arrested Sept. 12 on Route 1 in Ogunquit and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol.
Struthers is next scheduled to appear in District Court for a bench trial, before a judge rather than a jury, on Feb. 13.
