Volunteers of America is recognizing student leaders from several Maine high schools today with a special trip to Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox play the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The students, who have dedicated themselves to community service, are scheduled to visit with players, attend batting practice and be recognized on the field before the game at 7:10 p.m.

Known as the Maine Action Team, the students are scheduled to meet players Jason Varitek, David Ortiz, Mike Cameron and Bill Hall.

The students are Lauren Harris, Elijah Breton, Calli Gallant, Nick Strout and Chad Petheridge of Poland High School; Hannah Leeman, Emily Buczkowski and Garret Madden of Morse High School in Bath; David Green, James Oliver and Jake Ludwig of Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham; Jake Guenette, Mason Gates, Sara Stanley, Eric Frost, Jeremy Deguisto, Hunter Webber, and Jess Denis of Lewiston High School; Sam Canales, Fred Randall, Rebecca Kieffer, Brook Raymond and Kaitlyn Hall of Thornton Academy in Saco; Joe Cormier, Rebecca Ewen, Victoria Hoffses and Courtney Parlin of Georges Valley High School in Thomaston; and Alexander Crowell, Danielle Jordan and Rosalee Rainsford of the Windham-Raymond School District.

The trip was sponsored by the Major League Baseball Players Association Trust, Timothy J. Mynahan Foundation and Moody’s Collision Centers.
